They’re back. And they’re very happy. Travel Editor Stephen Scourfield, musician and composer Steve Richter and executive chef Costa Simatos return for 2023 for another epic-yet-intimate West Travel Club Round the World Dinner, on March 16.
Supported by presenting partner Singapore Airlines, the terrific trio will serve the world up on a plate, promising a spellbinding night of food, wine, music and stories in the elegant banquet hall at the University Club of Western Australia by Matilda Bay.
- Executive Chef Costa Simatos will bring his amazing culinary skills to writing the menu which features flavours from around the world — beautiful food for this one-off evening.
- Stephen Scourfield will write a story to go with each, full of anecdotes, characters and moments glimpsed — which he will perform live before each course.
- Musician Steve Richter will compose and play music with each story, especially written for the evening.
- The stories and music conjure up the destination, then the food is served. This is a hand-made, one-off event. We will only ever present it once.
As I’m not involved, I can say with modesty and in all honesty that these dinners are among my favourite West Travel Club events (along with our New Norcia Weekend, but more on that anon). Not only because they’re unique and poetic and delicious; but because they offer a rare opportunity to break bread with you, our readers.
And indeed, as the world of travel again opens up to us, why not think of this Round the World Dinner, as an appetiser, a taste of the good things to come?
